the club calf sale at 1:30 p.m.
The conference experts include
Keninanne Rarick, who has been
showing beef calves since shw was
a 4-Her growing up in Berks Coun
ty. She is to supply tips to young

beef exhibitors on blocking and fit
ting a calf, along with a discussion
on how to present a calf in the
showring.
Also, Dr. Lynn Sammons, of
Willow Creek Animal Hospital, is
to provide information on how to
keep a club calf healthy and will
discuss when and when not to use
medications and drugs.
Lancaster County native Chris
Herr has exhibited numerous
entries to the Pennsylvania Farm
Show and other major livestock
events. He will be sharing his
experiences in raising a Farm
Show champion steer, which Chris
accomplished in 1980.
Also speaking is Chad Cash, a
regional manager of Purina Mills,
who is to discuss feeding beef
calves for market and how to
achieve optimum results.

informative morning for young
people and parents, alike,” said
Sheila Miller, sale chairman.
“Last year’s event was a great
success, and I heard positive com
ments from all the kids who came
out. I believe even the most exper
ienced 4-Her will walk away from
this pre-sale youth conference with
something beneficial. I hope all
county clubs take advantage of this
free conference.”
This year’s sale will feature 24
calves in the ring to be auctioned
by Harry Bachman, of Annville.
Judge Ron Miller is to select a
champion and reserve champion
calf before the sale.

at fairs.

showed her crossbred calf, bred by
Elmer Stehman of Robesonia, to
grand champion at the 1990 Leba
non Area Fair.
Jeremy Manwiller, Robesonia,
showed his purebred Polled Here
ford steer bred by Deitschland
Farm, Womelsdorf, to grand
champion honors at the 1990 Kim
berton Fair, Chester County and
the Denver Fair, Lancaster
County.
Junior exhibitors who show
their Dutch Country calves to
champion honors are eligible to
receive $5O gift certificates on a
purchase of another calf at the next
calf sale.
