The event is open to all Holstein breeders in the Old Line State. The estimated total prize money is $4,730 with purse awards rang ing from $BOO for first place to $3O for 30th place. Additionally, $260 is to be divided and awarded to those first five “wins” shown in the 3-year old futurity class, based on produc tion. Only official DHIA or DHIR reports will be used and they must accompany the animals. The event, number 11, is spon sored and governed by the Mary land Holstein Futurity Committee of the Maryland Holstein Association. Those wishing to participate Chester Holstein Banquet Set ATGLEN (Chester Co.) The Chester Co. Holstein Club annual banquet is set for Thursday, Oct. 24, at 7 p.m. at the West Fallow field Christian Day School in Atglen. This year, the club will be sell ing cheese to help benefit the club. The mild Cheddar cheese will be sold in five-pound blocks or 40 pounds to a case. Delivery will be the week of Dec. 2 and the cheese can be picked upat the local direc tor’s home. Orders can be placed the night of the banquet Adults are $8.75 and children 10 and under are $5.25. Maryland Holstein Futurity need to submit pedigree informa tion on female calves bom from September 1990 to August 31, 1991. Application must be made on an official entry form available through the Maryland Holstein Association, but there is no restric tion on the number of entries. According to the entry form rules, the purpose of the futurity is to “ ... stimulate interest in the breeding and exhibiting of out standing registered Hoslteins in Maryland. It recognizes the accomplishments of the small and the large breeder and the FFA and 4-H boy or girl.” The futurity class has been held in conjunction with the Maryland Stale Fair and tentative plans are for that to continue. The show typi cally has been held cm the Sunday before Labor Day in any given year. In 1994, that would be August 28. For an animal to remain in the contest, all four payments (nomi nations) must be made on time. The first payment, due Oct 31. is $2.50 pa animal.
