Correspondent YORK (York Co.)— Two days of dairy judging at the York Fair culminated in the naming of the show’s supreme champion, Uni com Kayel Alice, exhibited by Jemaro Holstems, New Oxford. Just prior to the parade of breed champions for the supreme title, Alice got the champion nod to top the Holstein classes. A four year old, she is scored VG-88 for own ers Jeff and Mary Kay Roche and projected to finish her current lac tation at 24,000. Two weeks prior, the Lonsfarm Kay Elcvator-ET daughter won her class and was named reserve champion at the South Mountain Fair. The Roche’s milk 80 head at the New Oxford Jemaro Holsteins farm. Reserve supreme champion title went to the Jersey champion, Top-O-Hill Admiral Valentine, bred and exhibited by veteran showman Mildred Seeds. Valentine, a three year old sired by Bridon Master Admiral-ET, is scored VG-86, and projected to 12,000 milk in her second lacta tion. She also won the fair’s reserve supreme title last year, has taken breed champion honors this season at Goshen and Cecil Coun ty fairs and was reserve supreme at Cecil County. Reserve senior and grand champion of the Holstein show went to Keith Shaffer, exhibiting Old Ke-Hills Misty Cinnamon- Red. The Excellent red aged cow lopped her class and took the championship in July at the York Holstein show. Junior champion was the 4-H intermediate calf entry of Steve Gcmmill, Wood bine Slarman Myrtle. Amy Trim mer’s junior calf, Penn Gate V Dan Hope, was named reserve junior champion. Jersey reserve senior and grand was the second placing three year old exhibited by Mildred Seeds, Top-O-Hill Admiral Tina. Tncia Curtis took the junior champion honors with Patrick Gemni Christ ina, her winning intermediate calf. Reserve junior was the senior yearling entry of Mildred Seeds, Top-O-Hill Silver B Thanks. Rutter Bros. Mels Beary claimed her second consecutive Guernsey senior and grand champion title in the fair’s breed show. The four year old is scored EX-90 and is projected to finish her second lactation with 16,000 milk. Her senior two-year-old herdmate, Rutter Bros. Prides Minnie, got the judge’s nod for reserve spot. Kelly Moms took junior champion honors with her 4-H intermediate yearling, Mora cre Fayette Junglebell, over the Mildred Seeds took her second consecutive reserve supreme dairy title at the York Fair with her champion Jersey Top-O-Hill Admiral Valentine. Mary Ellen Deaven claimed three of the four champion titles in the Ayrshire runoffs. Her senior two year old, Laneway Amigo’s Lovely, snagged the champion title, over reserve champion Seven-Oaks Olympic Celene, a three year old. The champion took champion honors at both South Mountain and Shippensburg, and was reserve supreme at South Mountain as well. Intermediate yearling Wentworth Farm Benef. Melanie was chosen the junior champion. Reserve junior honors went to Ray Knoll Farm, with their senior calf Ray-Knoll Jeremy’s Brittany. Glenn Growl’s homebred senior two year old, Joy-el Anchorman Kit, took Brown Swiss champion honors, over his brother Gary’s reserve champion three year old Joy-el Jubilation Jan. The winning heifer, milking her first lactation, is projected to finish with 12,000. Swiss junior champion winner was Whitc-Oak- Vu Farm, exhibiting the interme diate calf Foust Hill Jeff Panda. Kelly Jo Myers took reserve junior honors with her summer yearling Welsh Ponderosa Prancer Jodi. Milking shorthorn honors all went to Airville exhibitor Gary Crowl. Grand champion was the four-year-old Joyel Pacesetter Melody, over reserve winner Joy el Pacesetter Tommy P, a three year old. Junior champion was Joyel Euke Tabby, a junior calf, over the reserve winner, Spruce Hill GP Darlene, a senior calf.
