Coronation Sparks Sullivan
DUSHORE (Sullivan Co.) The
naming of a dairy princess sparked
a night of festivities during the
largest Dairy Parade ever held at
Sullivan County.
Melanie Hottenstein captured
the crown on June 15, by answer
ing “What do you say when people
make fun of you as a farm girl?”
and “What is your favorite recipe
using dairy products?”

Dairy Princess

Nichol Lynn Bozlinski was
crowned Beaver-Lawrence Dairy
Princess on June 22. Jodi Lynn
Marshall was named alternate for
the two counties.
Nichol lives with her parents,
Phil and Cindy, and brother, Jim,
and sister. Crystal, on their
120-acre farm. The farm has been
in the family for6s years. The fam
ily raises 150-head of Holsteins,
Ayrshire, Jersey, and Brown
Swiss. Nichol owns 46 dairy
animals.
For nine years, Nichol has been
in 4-H clubs such as Mohawk Sew
ers, Southwest Dairy Club, Senior
Dairy Club, public speaking, coun
ty council, and president of the
dairy club. She has taken the Dale
Carnegie Public Speaking Course,
and is a member of Toastmaster
Society, Holstein Association
where she was named Distin
quished Jr. girl, school newspaper,
and FFA where she has been vice
president of Mohawk Chapter.
Nichol enjoys working on the
farm, roller skating, reading,
attending mectins, horseback rid
ing, working with her steer, teach
ing my cattle how to lead, and
showing my Holstein and
Ayrshires.
Seventeen-year-old Nichol will
graduate from Mohawk Area Jr.
Sr. High School in 1992 and plans
to attend Virginia Tech.
Alternate Jodi Lynn Marshall of
Porlersville is the daughter of
Leland and Janice Marshall, Por
tcrsville. She has one brother
Mark. The family farms 171 acres
and milks 40 Holsteins. She owns
six head. She attends Lincoln

Princess Jennifer Pardoe were
interviewed individually by three
judges, Donna Brown, Wyoming
County Farm Credit; Kathy
Smurkoski, Wyoming County 4-H
coordinator, and Jim Madigan,
Bradford County farmer.
Melanie is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Dennis Hottenstein of
New Albany. Jennifer is the
Beaver-Lawrence Dairy Princess Nicky Bozlinski, center.

High School in Ellwood City.
After graduation in 1992, she plans
to major in dairy or animal science
at Penn State.
Nicole is in French Club,
National Honor Society, SADD, a
volunteer fireman, and an accom
panist for choirs. She is a member
of Pleasant Hill Grange, Werten
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Par
doe of Forksville.
Following the coronation, cow
and goat milking contests were
held. A banner crowd indulged in
the giant sundae that was built
under the supervision of Tish Hem
bury and dairy maids Emilee Hem
bury, Susan Pardoe, Shana Raub,
Raylene Rouse and Amy
Warburton.
burg Presbyterian Church and the
Peace Makers Youth Group. Four-
H Clubs involvement include
senior dairy club, Yankee Dairy
Club, tractor club, and Jr. Holstein
Club.
She enjoys playing the piano for
12 years and showing cattle.
