Lebanon Fair Starts Today. Runs
NORTH CORNWALL (Leba
non Co.) The Lebanon Area
Fair, one of the largest agricultur
ally focused county fairs in the
state starts today with shows,
events and entertainment for the
family.
The week-long fair begins at 8
a.m. today with the 2nd Annual
Lebanon Area Fair 2'A -mile fun
run.
A daily admission fee of $2 is
being charged. A few special
events, not directly sponsored by
the fair committee, carry an addi
tional charge. The fair grounds are
located at Evergreen and Cornwall
roads, in North Cornwall
Township.
Also set for today are a rabbit
and cavy show, a poultry show,
and the opening of the main exhibit
building. Karate demonstrations,
the crowning of the fair queen and
a concert by Paula Frasier and the
Montana Band kick off the first
day of the fair.
Throughout the week there will
be free music, craft shows, bar
beques, 4-H and FFA animal
demonstrations and exhibits,
swine, beef, sheep, goat and dairy
cattle shows, tractor driving con
tests, fanner tailgate markets,
other bands, sales, exhibitor booth
s and other traditional events syno
nomous with the annual fair.
Back again, by popular demand,
arc racing pigs, from Monday
through Friday. A chain saw
carver will demonstrate his craft, a
petting zoo with exotic animals
from llamas to Arabian horses.

Pennsylvania. At 1 p.m., a volley
ball toumement is planned, a ham
barbeque from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.,
music by Mark Rissinger, a seeing
eye puppy demonstration, and at 7
p.m., the Jacob Ensminger family
is to present a Vesper Service.
Animals shows are scheduled
for all day Monday. Evening activ
ities include a Boom Bas Band at
6:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. and a sheep to
shaw demonstration.
Also, the 6,000 pound street
stock 4x4 truck pull and monster
truck racing event starts at 7 p.m. at
the track (additional cost $5).
On Tuesday, dairy shows, a
sheep leadline contest, and a
Senior Citizen Dance Group are
among the events planned.
At 6:30 p.m. and 8 p.m., the
60-member youth entertainment
group, “Energy,” is to perform.
At 7 p.m., a second night of trac
tor and truck pulling contests is
scheduled ($S fee).
At 7:30 p.m., the supreme
champion cow of the youth dairy
cattle show is to be selected.
Wednesday is Farmer’s Night,
with competitions for adults and
children, including big wheel
races, an animal dressing contest,
and a rolling pin or bale toss. Also
are wheelbarrow races and a tug
of-war.
From 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., a
hoedown is set with music pro
vided by Glenn Eckert and the
Hayseeds, with caller Ken Saul.
The last full day of the fair is
highlighted with by the open Hols
tein Show, starting at 9 a.m. and a
livestock sale at 6 p.m. At the same
time, volunteers will begin to sell
sandwiches from “The World’s
Largest Sausage Pattie.”
At 6:30 p.m. and also starting at
8:30 p.m., the band “The Nichols"
is to perform music ranging from
Beatles, Beachboys, Elvis and
Alabama.
