Filters has signed a letter of intent
to purchase the assets of Heavy
Duty Air (HDA), Minneapolis,
Minn., for an undisclosed amount
of cash.
HDA was founded in 1981 by
Weir Beckon, former head of
Donaldson Company’s aftermark
et business. Beckon will remain
with the company. HDA’s 1990
sales were approximately $5
million.

Because of production capacity
constraints at its Kearney plant,
Baldwin Filters is constructing a
manufacturing facility in Gothen
burg, Neb. Air filters will be pro
duced there when the facility
becomes operational. As a result of
the acquisition of HDA, the
Gothenburg facility will be
doubled in size to 100,000 square
feet, and HDA will be moved from
Minneapolis to this new facility.
