Somerset Chooses Dairy Princess

SOMERSET (Somerset Co.)
Vicki Stahl, Somerset, was named
the 1991 Somerset County dairy
princess at a recent contest held at
the Somerset High School.
It was dairy farming’s annual
night of glitz and glamour as four
of its delightful daughters chal
lenged each other for the right to
wear the crown and represent the
dairy industry the coming year.
The other girls were Amy Gon
us (alternate), Jennifer Ringler,
and Suzy Stutzman. Appearing in
evening gowns first, followed by
the presentation of their original
dairy commercial, each contestant
had to answer the questions asked

the nines, as they say, to impress
and delight the audience.
Besides the brief farewell
address given by the 1990 prin
cess, Karen Jenkins, Meyersdale,
some other former princesses
recapped their reign experiences.

met Thursday, June 6, with Nancy
Axe and Vivian Trout as co
hostesses. Following the refresh
ments the scripture was read by
Nancy followed by a reading
“Greet each day with gladness.”
After praying the Lord’s Prayer
and the Salute to the Flag, the
president, Vera Herr, conducted
the business meeting.
The Sunshine Report consisted
of six cards, fruit and two bou
quets of flowers. The Ways and
Means Committee chairperson,
Valaria Ferguson read a letter of
thanks from those responsible for
the Horse Races in March. A vote

The Lancaster Society of Farm
Women #25 met at the home of
Mrs. Emma Goss on June 8.
Twelve members attended and
responded to roll call by telling
how or where they met their
husbands.
The program was about how to
recycle everything that is
Berks Society 4
Society of Farm Women #4 of
Berks County met at the home of
Feme Kulp, Boyertonw, for their
May meeting. Eight members
responded to roll call by naming a
biblical plant
President Elsie Rothenberger
presided over the business meet
ing. Mary Fizz gave a report on the
county board meeting. She will
represent the group at the Berks
Heim Festival in June.

ject is “Make-A-Wish” and that
the County Picnic will be August
6 at Hoffman Building.

gave a very informative talk on
cataract surgery and showed a vid

gave a safety tip. The next meet
ing is scheduled for July 11 with
Emily Gallimore and Martha Hart
and Sara Conroy as co-hostesses.
Each person is to bring a wrapped
gift for the game at the picnic.

The next meeting will be held at the
home of Mrs. John B. Metz, 65
River Comer Rd., Conestoga, PA.
