Captures Lebanon Crown

Perhaps you heard of her Karen
Lentz, commentator for Moos
News.
The fledging newscaster was
crowned Lebanon County Dairy
Princess and will be assisted in her
promotional duties by Karlene
Mae Weaver, alternate, and
Bethany Heagy, Lil* Miss Dairy
Princess.
Unfortunately, network viewers
could not tune into TV station
WREL’s Moos News because it
was aired only to the audience who
attended pageant ceremonies at the
Lebanon County Area Vo-Tech
School on June 8. Karen devised
the newscast as her presentation for
the pageant’s competition.
The 16-year-old daughter of
Robert and Sandra Lentz reported
that cows shipped to Egypt helped
supply milk to Desert Shield
troops. She said that cheese is the
only dairy product with a rising
consumption rate.
On her news station, Karen also
portrayed a fanner who reported
that his cows stubbomess to let
their milk down and refusal to go to
pasture are sure tales that stormy
and cold weather is in the making.

As news sources, Karen used her ty Junior Holstein Club. Karen,
experiences as the owner of five who just completed her junior year
registered Holsteins, president of at Northern Lebanon High School,
the NORLEBCO 4-H Dairy club, is a member of the National Honor
and treasurer of the Lebanon Coun- Scoiety, a peer counselor and a
member of SHADE (Students
Helping to Aid the Disabled
Elderly).
She is an active member of Ml
Zion Road Church of the Brethren.
She enjoys singing, playing volley
ball, swimming and competing in
Dairy Bowl contests.
Karlene Mae Weaver was
named alternate dairy princess for
the county. In her presentation,
Karlene portrayed a senior citizen
who praised dairy products for
helping her to look and feel great
“even at my age.”
The 16-year-old daughter of
Jesse and Darlene Weaver will be a
senior at Lancaster Mennonite
High School in the fall. She was a
member of NORLEBCO 4-H
Dairy Club and is employed by
Grace Community Inc. As a mem
ber of her church youth group she
is on the youth planning
committee.
