ance Company, has developed a
new 24-minute videotape to train
tractor operators to prevent tractor
accidents.
The video is titled “Tractor
Accidents: It’s Not Gonna Happen
To Me.”
The program starts with a seg
ment on Pre-Operation Check by
directing the viewer to inspect
such items as the spinner shield,
shaft, tires, oil and fuel shut-off
cable before operation.
Additional topics include
“Transporting Tractors,” “Opera
tion Check,” “Tractor Behavior
and Accident Prevention,” and
“Emergency Response
Procedures.”

Buller, a horse trainer, who took
on the job of seeing whether a 14
year old wild horse could be
gentled. But Misty II made the job
easy, never bucking, and striving
each day to master the signals
Darlene was teaching her.
So shortly after that, Misty II
became my pony, my 4-H project,
and the love of my life. We ride
video uses dramatization and com
puter animation to demonstrate
how accidents happen and
emphasize ways to avoid them.
It utilizes a good blend of enter
tainment value to make it enjoy
able as well as educational.
The video should be viewed by
tractor operators in farm or ranch
operation,landscape companies
using tractors, agriculture stu
dents, and those with a agricultural
safety training responsibilities. It

though I’m only nine years old,
Misty II gives me the confidence
to try by best.
Misty II has another life too.
Schools from all over Pennsylva
nia call our house and ask if Misty
II will come for a visit. Right now
there is a national effort to raise
money to buy and restore the old
Beebe homestead where Misty
was bom which has been targeted
for development on the island of
Chincotcague. Students at schools
read the story of Misty and then do
special projects such as “Pennies

for Ponies” to help buy the Beebe
home. Then Misty II comes to vis
it the school, showing them that
the Misty line lives on. She likes
to stand on her stool, and shake
hands with students, and while we
talk to them about Chincotcague
and the wild ponies, she happily
chews on the school lawn grass.
She always lets all the students
come up one by one and pet her
before she goes back home.
I don’t mind sharing her with
people. At home lots of times peo
ple will call and ask if they can
come out and see her, and her
foals, Black Mister and Twister.
We even keep a guest registry
nearby and ask all her visitors to
sign it.
But one of the favorite things
we do is go to shows. People find

it hard to believe that she’s a fam
ous horse, and that she was broke
so late in years, so we usually
don’t tell them. We think Misty II
is special, but then we think all
horses are special in their own
way.
Which brings us to the point
were we are now, sitting in the
ring waiting for the judge’s deci
sion. Misty II placed third in this
class, making us very proud
because this was some of her slif
fest competition yet.
Misty II has come to our house,
and I think I’m the luckiest girl m
the world to be able to live my
own horse story with such a spe
cial animal. She’s here to stay, and
will never be sold again. Misty II
of Chincoteague is a member of
our family.
