MOLINE, HI. John Deere
has introduced three new side
delivery spreaders for customers
who handle mainly slurry manure.
The model 872,874, and 876 all
have large capacity, leakproof
tanks for productive material
handling, and design features that
enhance material flow, provide
long component life, and promote
safe, convenient operation.
With standard 6-inch side
extensions, the 872 has a rated
capacity of 1,000 gallons, the 874
1,400 gallons, and the 876 2,000
gallons. Optional 11-inch side
extensions increase capacity to
1,230, 1,700, and 2,400 gallons,
respectively. The company
recommends teaming the 872 with
at least a 65-hp tractor, the inter
mediate model with an 80-hp or
larger tractor, and the 876 with at
least a 100-hp tractor.
Material Flow
Each spreader features a
24-1/2-inch diameter auger
mounted near the bottom of the V
shape tank. Special intermittent
flighting on the auger delivers a
smooth, steady flow of material to
the front expeller.

Simmental Congress
BOZEMAN, Mont. The
1992 Congress of the World Sim
mental Federation (WSF) will be
hosted by the American Simmen
tal Association in Dallas, Texas.
More than 500 representatives
from 25 nations are expected to
attend the event, scheduled for
October 11-18. The Grand Kem
pinski Hotel in Dallas will serve as
headquarters hotel.
The schedule has been planned
to mesh with activities of the 1992
Texas State Fair, and will also fea
ture a number of tours and activi
ties. A number of pre-congress and
post-congress tours of the U.S. are
also in the planning stages.
The Texas Simmcntal/Simbrah
Association (TSSA) has
announced that it will sponsor and
manage a cattle sale on October 16
in conjunction with the WSF Con
gress. The TSSA will also coordi
nate a display area for cattle.

are Argentina, Australia, Austria,
Brazil, Canada, Columbia, Cze
choslovakia, France, Germany,

Single-acting cylinders raise the
auger against spring force. This
design ensures constant down
pressure for positive material
engagement when the control val
ues are in float It also permits the
auger to float over objects that
might otherwise cause damage to
the system.
The expeller’s slanted and stag
gered paddle segments engage the
material at different intervals with
a slicing action that makes effi
cient use of power and produces a
consistent spread pattern up to 50
feet long. The paddle segments are
bolted on for easy serviceability
should replacement be needed.
An optional deflector can be
installed on the expeller gate to aid
the breakup of small clumps of
sticky material for a more even
spread pattern. An expeller pan is
available to help keep liquids from
running under the expeller to the
ground during unloading. Other
attachments include an expeller
comer lid to help retain backspray
