Penny Jordan Named York County Dairy Princess
JOYCE BUPP
York Co. Correspondent
BAIR (York Co.) Penny Jor
dan was crowned the 1991 York
County Dairy Princess during
pageant ceremonies held last
Saturday evening at the county
4-H Center.
Seventeen-year-old Penny is
the daughter of Lois and Robert
Jordan, Brogue R 1 dairy farmers.
She is a junior at Red Lion Area
High School, sings with the school
concert choir and is active with the
youth group of Chanceford Pre
sbyterian Church.
Sporting a cow costume com
plete with flowing tail, Penny per
formed an original rap music song
she wrote on the dairy industry for
her skit. When asked the “fish
bowl” question on how a person
finds success, Penny replied that
she felt just doing the best job a
person can and knows how to do is
the answer to finding success.
The Jordan family milks a herd
of 75 cows, of which Penny owns
three. She helps with milking and
feeding chores.
Annie Rauhauser was named
the alternate county dairy prin
cess. She is the daughter of Pat
and Charles Rauhauser, 3161
Admire Road, Dover. A junior at
Dover Area High School, Annie is
president of the Central dairy club,
a member of the 4-H county dairy
judging team and shows cattle
extensively.
A presentation on embryo
transfers was Annie’s presentation
to the pageant audience. Her
speech was in keeping with the
new state princess seminar rules
which require participants to pre
pare and present an adult-oriented
talk for state training sessions.
Annie helps with milking the
Rauhauser family’s 100-head herd
and handles calf feeding chores.
