Ida’s Notebook Ida Risser Recently I’ve been sorting other people’s things. It is much easier than sorting my own things - mine I can’t throw away. Our fam ily seems to have an inherited characteristic that leans toward saving everything. My children still have their art work and school papers in boxes under jdic beds. When they don’t want the pretty pictures, I pick out a few that I like and then reluctant ly bum the rest. Some of the boxes contain odd little items like mirrors, jewelry, tiny toys and pictures. Others have collections of matches, stamps and rocks. Boxes and boxes of various stones that they collected for 4-H geology projects. The blue ribbons that they won are still strung across the bedroom walls. There are many purple rosettes and some red and white ribbons too. We have natural ponds in our meadow and so they were able to skate most winters even if the river didn’t freeze. Musical instru ments were left behind and rows and rows of books. The other Saturday my husband and 1 went fishing. This time we were rather sure that we’d catch something. You see, it was a place where you pay for the trout that you catch. We only caught three compared to the sue or seven that others caught but we walked past the crowd to the end of the stocked brook where few people were fishing. Maybe others caught them before they got to us. But, they surely tasted good for our evening meal. Next time we’ll go on a weekday. The new Water Pro is con structed from impact resistant plastic and uses no electricity, so it eliminates heating elements and utility bills! Plus, it’s easy to install and service. Stop by and ask to the new d energy-free from Ritchie. Ell HAPPENINGS South Mountain 4-H The South Mountain 4-H Club held its monthly meeting on March 25, at 7 p.m. at the Fontana Community Building.
