NATIONAL EGG MARKET - AT A
GLANCE: Prices were lower in the Mid
west, unchanged elsewhere. The market
tone was cautiously steady to weak.
Demand into all channels was mostly mod
erate. Very few retail specials were in
progress following last week's heavy vol
ume. Supplies were at least adequate and
available. Breakers remained unaggressive
with extra shell egg offerings. Live hen
markets were barely steady to weak;
demand was fair at best for the at least
adequate supplies.

Movement of ready-to-cook broiler
fryen was generally fair today and about as
expected for mid-week trading. Supplies of
2 1/2 pound sizes were barely adequate, 3
pound and up sizes were adequate to fully
adequate. Lett than trucklot asking prices
were steady at 43 to SS cents. Live supplies
were adequate. Average live weights
ranged desirable to heavy. Processing
schedules were heavy. Trade sentiment
was steady to fully steady. In the parts
complex, supplies of wings and legs were
adequate to fully adequate, leg quarters and
breast items were barely adequate to
adequate.

Tnicklot buying interest was light to fair
and generally select- ive. Supplies of bone
less skinless breasts were closely cleared to
adequate. Whole breasts were in tight
supply and firmly held where available.
Leg items were adequate with a few more
leg quarters noted available compared to
earlier. Wings cleared to an increased
demand at higher trending prices. Giblets
were fully adequate at unchanged prices.
