As a part of his talk, Weiler showed a slide presenta tion which outlined the highlights of the exchange. He showed pic tures of farmers in Poland raising cauliflower, sugar beets, forage beets, potatoes, pork, and a few dairy farms. For the most part, he found farming methods in Poland to be far behind those of the United States. “But,” he said, “farming isn’t the only place where this country is lagging. It takes IS years to get a telephone in Poland and at least five to get a car.” He said the trip was something he had wanted to do ever since he was a teenager. Other highlights of the evening included remarks from Bedford County Dairy Princess Nicole Childers who prepared cheese appetizers for the dinner. Fred Claycomb and Dottie Bromley reported on the Regional and State Extension Council. Thelma Albright gave a positive report on Legislative Day which she and Tom Wakefield attended. Special awards were presented by County Agent Susan Fox to Fred Claycomb and Loren Woy, both past board presidents and to Tom Eller, Sam Rose and Matth ew Boyer.
