PRESCOTT (Lebanon
Co.) The Lebanon County 4-H
Livestock Club held is annual rec
ognition banquet Tuesday night at
Prescott Fire Hall.
The annual banquet is held to
recognize the achievements of the
youth who participate in the coun
ty 4-H program and to name out
standing members.
Receiving the outstanding
senior member award was Daryl
Bomgardner who showed the 1991
Farm Show grand champion mark
et swine and numerous other top
swine at shows at Timonium, Md.,
the county fair, roundup, at KILE,
and the Ohio State Fair.
Bomgardner, 17, is the son of
Charlie and Marlene Bomgardner
and has also participated in judg
ing contests with PSU during state
clays, and in Lancaster arid York
counties. He attended an oral rea
sons workshop, and also entered in
the stockmen’s competition at
KILE.
He said his extracurricular
activities include being a member
ot his FFA parhmentary procedure
team, high school basketball,
track, Honor Society, and involve
ment with his church youlhgroup,
softball and volleyball teams and
the Leaders Corps.

Lebanon 4-H Livestock Club Holds Banquet
During the banquet, Bomgard
ner presented a picture of his Farm
Show champion hog to Carlos R.
Leffler, who had purchased the
animal for a record price and then
donated it back to Bomgardner so
that the youth could continue to
use it in his breeding program.
Receiving an oustanding junior
member award was Jon Hamish,
12, son of Guy and Carol Hamish.
John was involved with beef and
swine projects and participated in
KILE; the state Farm Show; coun
ty, regional and state judging con
tests; the York Fair; was a member
of the Pork Bowl team; and took
first place in the age group at the
county fair and roundup for swine
and took second place in his age
group for beef production.
In addition to 4-H involvement,
Hamish has participated in the
Youth to Youth Feeder Pig Sale;
the Berks County-Southeast Dis
trict Cattleman’s Association; the
Pennsylvania Jr. Limousin Associ
alien; and in various fund raising
events.
Receiving an outstanding roo
kie member award was Katie Moy
er, 10, daughter of Greg and Susan
Moyer.
Moyer received a 100 on her
project book and look first place in
blocking and a second in show
manship at the county fair. She
also received a trophy as an honor
4-Hcr. Her projects included
market lamb and blocking and
showmanship.
She competed in the county fair,
and participated in a sheep shear
ing school, barbeque ticket sales
project, a lamb promotion at Fox’s
Market and helpd with the clean
up force at the county fair.
In addition, Moyer is a cheer
leader for Ebenezcr Football Asso
ciation, a member of her church
choir, a violinist, is involved with
church musicals and also is a mem
ber of another 4-H group.
Also during the banquet, special
recognition was given to Hatfield
Quality Meats for support of the
club as a consistent buyer, packer
bids, donations for pork promo
tions, financial support of the pork
bowl, both local and state.
Kenneth Winebark, livestock
extension agent in Lebanon Coun-
ly made recognition of the Friends
of 4-H, and also gave recognition
to those whose animals performed
well at the stale Farm Show, in
special judging contests and to
those who captured lop places in
county competitions during the
past year.
Special recognition was made to
the members of the county Pork
Bowl team who had won high team
overall in the slate. The 1990 A
team consisted of Danny Atkins,
Jon Hamish, Amy Hamish and
John Risscr. The B team was made
up of Brian Kreidcr, Roxanne
Kirst, Jason Krall and Katie
Lefever.
In the slate shepherds contest,
