This man would prefer that
you didn't plant Jacques alfalfas
He has a profitable little sideline selling hay to
dairy farmers and beef producers whose alfalfa
stands didn't produce enough to get them through
the winter.
But he doesn't get many calls from farmers who
grow Chief, Elevation or Multi-plier from Jacques.
Because they produce more of their own high
quality alfalfa.
One reason, of course, is the genetic yield
potential of Jacques alfalfa varieties. Elevation , for
example, has one of the highest four-year yield
averages among all varieties tested by the
Universities of Minnesota and Wisconsin.
But another major factor is their unequaled
disease resistance. Multi-plier earned 24 out of a
possible 25 points qnder the University of
Wisconsin disease resistance rating system. And no
variety even begins to compare to Chief for its level
of resistance to Phytophthora and bacterial wilt, the
two most damaging alfalfa diseases.
That means Jacques alfalfas keep producing
extra tons of alfalfa year after year.
