to some 30 youngsters in our
Community Club. When my
youngest child went off to college,
I decided to give up the leadership
as many members in the suburbs
had a lot of other commitments
and did not finish their projects.
For several years my daughters
conducted cooking classes in my
large, new kitchen. A complete
meal was prepared at each meet
ing and these gatherings were well
attended. I didn’t need to lift a fin
ger as my girls ordered the food,
supervised its preparation, cleaned
up afterward and collected the
money.
Many papers that I’ve saved
include brochures of our travels. I
suppose they should be thrown
away, but one imagines that some
day we’ll sit down and look them
over again. Then there are person
al letters and cards that bring back
memories of past times.
After phoning several retire

zines. My children have also sub
scribed to “Country” and “Coun
try Woman” for us. These are
beautiful magazines, but often, I
never even remove their plastic
covers. Therefore, I’m glad to find
someone who has the time to
enjoy them. My reading is mostly
confined to the daily newspaper
and farm magazines.
