Vegetable Day Looks At Grower Concerns
NEW HOLLAND (Lancaster
Co.) The Adult Farmer Prog
ram of the Eastern Lancaster
County School District will con
duct an all-day program for veget
able growers at the Summit Valley
Elementary School on Monday,
February 18, 1991.
The program will begin at 9
a.m. with coffee, donuts, and visit
ing exhibits. General sessions will
cover topics such as vegetable dis
eases, growing cool season crops,
and management practices to
optimize vegetable production.
There will be a series of concur
rent meetings going on during the
day including topics on vegetable
fertilization, strawberries, green
house tomato production, green
house biosecurity, starting and
expanding greenhouses, and tree
fruit management.
In addition, several video tapes
will be shown during the day on
integrated pest management, food
watch, and stress on the family
farm. Also a special demonstra
tion on stir frying will be of inter-
