beef industry at the Cattle Feeder’s
Day. In 1991, beef production will
be up about 1 percent; pork, about
2 percent; lamb will remain
unchanged at 0 percent; and veal,
down 7 percent. But the total red
meat production should increase

about 5 percent in 1991. Turkeys
will go up the same amount, hiking
total meat production up about 3
percent.
Moore remains “guardedly
optimistic” about 1991.
Other factors, such as the Gulf
War and the weather, have to be
considered. But feed prices should
be no higher or perhaps slightly
less than 1990 levels, he said.
