Triplets Debut
(Continued from Pag* At)
“We expected twins,” Janet
recalled, “but after the scconfl
baby was delivered, the doctor
announced that there was a third
baby.”
Bill promptly fainted.
The triplets weighted in at a
healthy 5.5 pounds; 5.12 pounds;
and 6.1 pounds.
That was the beginning of the
“frightening and wonderful life of
raising triplets,” said Janet. This
year the triplets, Jana, Kara, and
Lance, are old enough to enter 4-H
competition at the Farm Show.
The triplets will enter sewing
projects and posters. The triplets’
mother is their 4-H leader who also
substitute teaches food and child
development at a local school. If
the triplets follow their older sis
ters’ footsteps, they are certain to
be successful in sewing competi
tion.
Christa, who is now 15, placed
first in the Make-It-With-Wool
stale contest and will travel to Cali
fornia for national competition on
January 17. Christa was also a state
finalist at Penn State 4-H Fashion
Revue.
“It helps to have my mother as
the sewing teacher,” Christa said,
“because she makes me rip it out
and do it over when it isn’t right."
Trisha, 11, placed second in the
junior division of the Make-It-
With-Wool contest. She was not
intending to enter the contest, but
her school district went on strike
for five weeks, so she thought she
might as well sew.
Trisha, according to her mother,
is very bright and likes to read,
quilt, play the clarinet, and make
crafts and ceramics. She also likes
to swim, play soccer, and softball.
As the only boy in a family of
four girls, Lance claims, “It’s a
pain.”
He wishes he had a brother
because his sisters are always try
ing to get him to do things like
dishes. Despite the “pain,” Lance
said that he likes his sisters and
thinks that it’s fun to be a triplet.

and his wife Janet is a home economist.
Lance enjoys sewing, but said, “I can’t sew as good as my
sisters.”
It-With-Wool junior competition on the state level and will
travel to California to compete nationally. Trisha placed
second in the preteen division. Both entered 4-H sewing
competition at the Farm Show.
