Ride & Tie
Horse Race
Ever wonder what would hap
pen if there were two people, one
horse and quite a distance to cover
from here to there? That’s the idea
behind a ride and tie race, where
two people share one horse, taking
turns riding and running across the
countryside. In a race, teams com
pete against each other, with the
fastest time taking home a blue
ribbon.
The annual Ride ‘N Tie Race,
sponsored by the Saddle Cinches
4-H Horse and Pony Club of
Northern Lancaster County was
held Sunday, October 7, in State
Games Land trails between Cole
brook and Mount Gretna. Juniors
covered a distance of three miles,
seniors five miles, and adult divi
sion opted for the three mile
distance.
Junior Division
1. Kerra Allen and Jessica
Pfahl, both of Manheim; 2. Ashlie
Nelson, Mount Joy, and Kan
Moyer, Manheim; 3. Linda Reesor
and Heather Oberholtzer, both of
Elizabethtown.
Senior Division
1. Kyle and Bob Kettering, both
of Manheim; 2. Lavonne Lehman
and Joan Cinder, both of
Manheim.
Adult
1. Barbara and Mike Kerker,
both of Elizabethtown; 2. Lori
Holton, Mount Joy, and Jodi
Gantz, Manheim; 3. Jan
Longenecker and Pat Kruse, both
of Manheim.
The Ride ‘n Tie Race is an
annual event sponsored by the
Saddle Cinches 4-H Horse and
Pony Gub and held in the fall of
the year.
