Boots And Saddles Club Presents
LANCASTER (Lancaster Co.)
The annual awards banquet of
the Boots and Saddles 4-H Club
was held at the Farm and Home
Center, with 85 members and fam
ily members in attendance at the
covered dish supper.
Special guests were Mr. and
Mrs. Jay Irwin, county extension
agent.
The following members were
recognized with awards:
Becky Preiss was recognized
for four years of perfect atten
dance. Jennifer Goodman, Leah
Harvey, Eileen Holm and Nathan
Stoltzfus received two year
awards and Erin Hess & Kelly
Sullivan received an award for
one year ol perfect attendance at
meetings.
The High Sponsorship Award
went to Barry Gochenauer in the
8-12 year-old category; to Jessica
Hill for the 13-15 year-olds; and to
Becky Preiss for the 16-18 year
olds.
Juniors Melissa Meisky and
Kelly Sullivan were rewarded for
their junior presentation, and
Eileen Holm, who went on to
national competition with her pre
sentation on selecting a used
saddle, was awarded the honor for
seniors, along with Jessica Hill
and Leah Harvey. Their topics
covered the Arabian Horse, the
Thoroughbred, and Driving
Horses.
President Eileen Holm was also
recognized for her efforts with the
club scrapbook, which won a gold
ribbon in judging at the 4-H fair.
Melissa Meisky won the
championship award in junior
grooming and showmanship, and
Billie Jo May won the reserve
championship. In the senior divi
sion, the championship was won
by Becky Preiss, with the reserve
going to Melissa Harris.
Record book awards were as
follows:
Novice Horseman; Jennifer
Goodman, Elizabeth Heisey,
Melissa Meisky, Samara Shuster-
Edelson, and Danny Talbot.
