Family Day Celebration Held
MILLERSTOWN (Perry Co.)
Clear blue sunny skies, mild
temperatures and a variety of
activities brought over 350 people
to “Celebrate The Family Day”
held recently at Greenwood
Elementary School in
Millerstown.
The annual family event is
sponsored by the Perry County
Family Issues Task Force. Com
prised of a dozen individuals from
various Perry County agencies,
the Task Force addresses the
multiple needs of the families in
the community, then works
cooperatively to best serve and
educate the residents in the
county.
One of the most obvious fruits
of their labors is the “Celebrate
The Family Day.” Included in this
year’s events was a presentation
on Family Traditions by Mary
Laeger-Hagemeister, Dauphin
County Extension home econom
ist. One of the traditions she
emphasized was being involved in
the community. Mary also
explained how participating in the
“Celebrate the Family Day” was
an example of the community
tradition as well as a family
tradition.
Participants were also enter
tained via the West Side Singers
of Susquenita High School. The
group’s performance included
musical numbers as well as one
act skits. More musical talent was
shared by Greenwood High
School’s swing choir.
Music wasn’t the only activity.
Participants were also able to
engage in a variety of other events
