ished its 64th year with 103 mem
ber herds.
The average milk production
level for all herds on test was
15,775 pounds of milk, 3.6 per
cent butterfat and 572 pounds of
butterfat. The milk level is the
highest ever in 64 years of testing
and the pounds of butterfat is
slightly below last year’s level.
The value of milk produced per
cow was $2,355. After all costs
were paid, the net value of the pro
duct (milk) was about $1,481 per

Stenholm emphasized that we
want no more dairy terminations,
heifer buy outs, etc. They are only
temporary solutions. The dairy
industry needs unity to survive.
He said his committee is awaiting
recommendations from National
Milk Producers Federation and
dairy industry leaders and is open
to all comments, ideas and
options. “The need for NMPF has
never been greater. The need for
our cooperatives to enhance dairy
returns to producers has never
been greater,” he concluded.
