Dear Dairy or Beef Producer:
I would like to extend a very personal invitation to you to attend the
CARGILL special meeting on the new ideas in corn hybrids for beef and dairy
producers. Dates and details are included in the accompanying information.
You may find it strange that I would invite you to a meeting when I am part
of the program. I' am writing this letter because for some 40 years we have
worked together for improved feeding of cattle. At the Georgia Experiment
Station we began work on the need for and programming of fiber for dairy
cattle in 1964. Many of you have sat through my seminars on the subject.
In Hoard’s Dairyman articles, I have been talking about the need for special
corn hybrids for silage for dairy cow. CARGILL has taken the initial step in
this direction and you need to hear their story and see what they are trying
to do for you.
I am happy to have been asked to come along and talk about THE IMPOR
TANCE OF FORAGE QUALITY TO THE DAIRYMAN OF THE 90’s. I think
you will find some new ideas in my report.
So, let’s get together for a few hours and talk about new ideas in feeding
dairy cows. I will look forward to seeing old friends and making new ones.
