Franklin County Franklin County Farm-City Week activities committee is chaired by Dalton Paul, who also sits on the state Farm-City council. Those involved in the county job-exchange program will also give a presentation during the banquet. Chester County In Chester County, the 1990 Farm-City program includes an open-house tour program at five farms in the county from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Nov. 10. A 3-year-old Holstein cow, Hilltop-Hanover-B Bellerina-ET, recently sold for $210,000 during a sale of 182 lots at Hilltop-Hanover Farm in York town, N. Y„ that grossed almost $2 million. According to sales manager Tom Morris LTD, of Amery Wis., the sale grossed $1,793,974 and averaged $9,857 per head. It included a variety of cows, heifers and bulls. It is believed to have been the highest averaging sale in the East so far this year, according to the Morris agency. Large sales of top-notch Hols tein stock have intermittently occured at Hilltop-Hanover Farm Sales over the years. It was not a herd dispersal, according to the Morris agency. The consignor was Brophy, Cormdale & Valentina, also of New York City. Bellerina was graded a Very Good-88 and as a 2-year-old showed a 365-day lactation record of 37,359 pounds of milk with 4.6 percent milkfat (1,734 pounds). Bellerina’s dam is Brigeen Hanover Debra, an Excellent EE9I as an 8-year-old. Debra is well known because she is the Holstein breed’s only fourth gen eration cow rated Excellent to pass a production record of 40,000 pounds of milk in a lactation. As a 3-year-old, Debra made 42,910 pounds of milk, 1,882 pounds of milkfat and 1,389 pounds of pro tein during a 365-day lactation. That was on a twice-a-day milking schedule. The sire of Bellerina is Carlin-M Ivanhoe Bell, an Excellent 93 at n IMI WATERING LJ VAL SYSTEMS CALL TODAY! 12-years and also very well known in the Holstein breed and is a gold medal proven sire. Hilltop-Hanover-B Mark Dove- ET, bom in November 1986, is rated an Excellent 92 and as a 2-year-bld produced 21,490 pounds of milk, 818 pounds of milkfat and 732 protein. Purchased by Kathleen E. Seidel, Bellemead, N.J., Dove was sired by Walkway Chief Mark, also rated 99 percent reliable in July. Dove was consigned by Bro phy. Shore, Cormdale & Valentina.
