MT. ZION (Lebanon
Co.) Three men were elected
Tuesday to 3-year terms on the
board of directors of the Lebanon
County Holstein Club, during its
annual banquet meeting at Zoar’s
Lutheran Church in Mt. Zion.
Elected to serve were Eugene
Martin, Michael Arnold, and Jay
Weaver. Their exact position oh
the board is to be determined dur
ing a later re-organizational
meeting.
Two speakers were featured
during the evening banquet meet
ing. About 200 people attended.
Dennis Wolff, form Pen-Col
Farms, talked about indexing and
merchandising dairy cattle. Dave
Burket, of Burket Falls Farm,
spoke about the importance of
selecting breeding stock with an
emphasis on maternal lineage.
In other business, youth director
Mike Kunkle and former director
Nelson Bomgardner presented
plaques to Junior members who

Holstein Club Elects Directors, Presents Awards
participated in the milk and milk
component production
competitions.
All who participated received
certificates. The top two places in
each cow-age group received a
plaque.
In the 2-year-old cow catagory,
the top milk production was by a
cow owned by Kathy Mase, which
showed a production of 23,791
pounds. Michelle Mase took home
a plaque for having the second
highest with a 22,480-pound
record.
The award for first place fat pro
duction went to Timothy Vail with
4.1 percent at 874 pounds. Second
place went to Michelle Mase
whose cow showed 3.7 percent, or
839 pounds.
In protein production, Danette
Nolt’s entry showed 3.3 percent at
739 pounds. Second place plaque
went to Michelle Mase whose ani
mal produced 3.2 percent protein at
729 pounds.
In the 3-year-old cow class,
first place in milk went to Michelle
Mase with 24,398 pounds. Second
place award went to Kendra Mase
with production of 23,976 pounds
milk.

Among the 4-year-old cows,
Craig Sellers cow earned a first
place plaque for him with a produc
tion of 27,525 pounds milk. Danet
te Nolt’s cow came in second with
26,468 pounds of milk.

ger’s cow showed a record of
23,087 pounds.
