champion fitter. Later in the show,
her 1,280-pound heavyweight
received grand champion honors.
sold for $1.45 per pound to Hagerstown Block Company.
The 1,185-pound steer will be donated to the Emmanuel
Children’s Home of Maugansvllle, MD. With Darren, are
Richard Loudln, left, of the Emmanuel Children’s Home,
and Harold Derbln, who Is retired from Hagerstown Block.

It sold that evening for $2.20 per
pound to Hoss’s Steak and Sea
House of Chambersburg.
Champion showman was David
Sheiss of Chambersburg.
Darren Meyers, a freshman at
Indiana University, showed the
reserve champion steer, a
1,185-pound light heavyweight.
Hagerstown Block Company pur
chased Darren’s steer for $1.45
per pound, and donated the animal
to the Emmanuel Children’s
Home of Maugansville, Md.
John Hausner of The Plains,
Virginia, officiated at the show.
He is the manager of an 800-acre
purebred Angus farm.
Auctioneer for the sale was
Lyle Reed of McConnellsburg.
Greencastle Livestock Market
owner Jeff Craig donated his facil
ities for the show and sale.
The sale averaged $1.32 per
pound on 18 head, including one
companion steer. Average weight
was 1,208 pounds.
