HARRISBURG (Dauphin
Co.) — Gov. Robert P. Casey told
the Animal Health Commission
that its work is helping to meet the
administration’s goal of strength
ening the agricultural industry in
Pennsylvania.
“I thank you for all your fine
work with this body,'because as
you know animal health is crucial
to the health of our leading indus
try and this is one of the goals we
set for agriculture four years ago,”
Gov. Casey said.
“There is a strong alliance
between this administration and
the Animal Health Commission
and that will be more important
during the implementation phase
of what you recommend,” he said.
Gov. Casey made his comments
during a meeting with the com
mission in the Capitol.

Pennsylvania’s Animal Health
Commission was created in
December 1988. The commission
develops policy on all animal
health, research, diagnostic, and
indemnity programs in the state. It
also advises the Department of
Agriculture on animal health
research funding.
Three veterinarians and six far
mers serve on the commission,
along with the secretaries of agri
culture and health and four mem
bers of the General Assembly.
