“Dairy Darlings.” These small dairy farmers’ daughters,
age eight to ten years old, may someday be in line for the
dairy princess tide. Their cute responses to Angela Spick
ler’s interview questions won the hearts of the audience.
These little girls and their parents are Lara Welk, nine
year-old daughter of Lloyd and Barbara Welk, Quarry ville;
Elisa Ranck, eight-year-old daughter of Donald and Virgi
na Ranck, Paradise; Amanda Kolb, nine-year-old daughter
of Dennis and Debra Kolb, Lancaster; Katie Hess, nine
year-old daughter of Joe and Linda Hess, Marietta; Heather
Brubaker, nine-year-old daughter of Lowell and Debra
Brubaker, Manheim; and Denise Bollinger, eight-year-old
daughter of Darryl and Ruby Bollinger, Manheim.
In the cow coloring contest, the following winders were
named:
Age 5: 1. Christian Milick; 2. Janice Le; 3. Lara Fry.
Age 6; 1. Jarrod Ringer; 2. Rebecca Jenkins; 3. Ashley
Kline.
Age 7: 1. Ida Kerr, 2. Adam Kerlin; 3. Anthony Le.
Age 8: 1. Shawn Kreidcr; 2. Kim Martin; 3. George
McConnell.
Angela Spickler, the 1989 Lancaster County Dairy Prin
cess and Alternate State Dairy Princess, crowned the new
princess and gave her farewell address.
“It has truly been an exciting year,” Spickler said. “I am
especially honored to have been able to represent Lanca 'ter
County. Now that my year as dairy princess has offic tlly
come to an end, I find that parting is a sweet sorrov . In
many ways, I am excited about putting my expericnc s to
use in other areas. However part of me will always wa it to
be the one to stand up when someone says, ‘We will now
hear a few words from our Lancaster County Dairy
Princess.’”
Tammy Wanner was named the 1990 Lan
caster County dairy princess alternate.
