The ultimate goal of the prog ram is to reduce the amount of nit rogen, phosphorus and sediment entering the Susquehanna River and eventually the Chesapeake Bay. Agricultural runoff has been identified as the major source of these nutrients and sediment. Two of the primary benefits of the Che sapeake Bay Program to the resi dents of Dauphin County will be improved stream quality and reduced risk of groundwater contamination.
