4-H Finalists
Three Lebanon County youth
with outstanding 4-H records have
been named Keystone winners in
three categories of the National
4-H Awards Program.
Named were Teresa Hill (Baker
Scholarship); Ralph Major (Foods
and Nutrition); and Steve Wagner
(Bicycle).
Teresa, daughter of Bernice and
James Hill, is in her tenth year in
4-H. She is an active member of
the Norlebco 4-H Dairy Club.
Teresa was recently awarded top
individual honors at the Penn
State Youth Dairy Judging Con
test.
Ralph, son of Kay Ann and Lar
ry Major, is in his ninth year as a
member of the Jonestown Bake
and Eat 4-H Club. As a teen lead
er, Ralph organizes club activities
for the foods and nutrition project.
He is also a member of the Leba
non County 4-H Teen Council.
Steve, son of Corinne and Glen
Wagner, is an eighth year member
of the Cedar Valley 4-H Club.
Steve has completed projects in
woodworking, riflery, archery,
leadership, health, photography,
forestry, and bicycle.
State Road 4-H
On April 16, 1990, the State
Road 4-H Club held their first
meeting. Officers elected include
President Jamie Paulhamus, Vice
President Susan Cline, Secretary

Livestock Judging
Sixteen members from the York
County 4-H livestock clubs com
peted in the annual Spring Judging
Contest at Penn State University
on March 24, 1990 at University
Park.
The contest was divided into
two age divisions. The first divi
sion was the Junior Advanced
Group, which had to give three
sets of Oral reasons, along with
placing six classes of livestock.
The second division was consid
ered as the Junior Beginners,
which only had to place the six
classes of livestock.
In the Advanced Contest, Cathy
Shive, Seven Valleys, placed first
overall in the contest. The team
consisting of Cathy Shive; Sandy
and Sue Eisenhour, Wellsville;
and Edwin Livingston, Dover,
placed first in the overall team
competition.
The other advanced team con
sisting of Amy Dutrey, Dallas
town; Robin Shive, Seven Val
leys: Carly Kelly, Wellsville; and
Jason Rankin, Abbottstown
placed eighth in the overall team
competition.
The Chester County 4-H Prog
ram has announced that Noel
Scheib, a junior at Owen J.
Roberts High School and member

of the Kimbcrton Sewing and Tii-
Community Dairy 4-H Clubs and
4-H Teen Representative Council,
has been selected as a 1990 Key
stone Winner in the 4-H Dairy
Program and as an outstanding
4-H member.
This is the second year in a row
that Noel, a 4-H’er for 10 years,
has won this honor. Noel, from
Phoenixville, will travel to Penn
State in May for the National
Awards Program.
Yellow Rose 4-H Club
The Yellow Rose 4-H Club will
sponsor its annual open horse
show on May 12 and 13, 1990 at
the Luzerne County Fairgrounds
in Dallas, Pennsylvania. Starting
time will be 8:30 a.m. rain or
shine.
This year’s show will feature a
wide variety of Western and Engl
ish classes with a total of IS divi
sion championships and reserves.
There will be both an English and
Western $250 added Pleasure
Classic and a Super Horse Award,
sponsored by Pepsi Cola, which
will be given each day to the horse
accumulating the most points at
the days end.
The show will also feature a
Palamino horse division on Satur
day, May 12, sponsored by the
Palamino Horse Associaiton.
