COLUMBUS, Ohio DHIA announced new quality limits on its national network of milk test ing labs effective June 1. Phil Dukas, director of technical deve lopment, presented new perfor mance limits at the March 12th National DHIA convention in Greensboro, N.C. “Dairy producers should expect consistent results regardless of their location,” said Dukas. “Our control sample program has reve aled a few deficiencies in our program because not all of our 200 machines are performing as they should. We have already identi fied a certain condition that was affecting 11 similar machines,” he said, “now we go to work to find the cause of the problem.” 810-MILKER Specially designed to regulate your milking oper ation, this positive pulsed air bleed milker assures harmony between udder and cluster. First of all, the Quality Certification (QC) program will need to be more balanced with greater emphasis of accuracy at the field level. One of the goals set forth by Dukas is to simplify the QC manual. “We need to cut this manual in half and take it to a broader level and let the states decide on how to implement the guidelines which are outlined in this document We have good people at the state and regional level and I think it’s time for the quality, drive and motiva tion to be at that level,” he said.
