moreßl has been appointed a field
Investigator in the Bureau of Ani
mal Industry, Department of
Agriculture.
Duties of the position require
that McCauley inspect livestock at
the terminal markets in Lancaster.
Lebanon and York Counties.
McCauley will report health and
sanitation rules infractions at the
New Holland and Vintage auctions
and the Lancaster Stockyards as
well as the Mason-Dixon sales
stables at Stewaitstown and other
markets in the three counties.

-The 199-acre farm offered for
sale at public auction Tuesday,
April 5, by Jonas Zook of New
Holland R 2, was bought by John
Yost, Natvon R 2, for $86,394 or
$726 per acre.
Three cows in the 50 cow Zook
herd topped the $5OO figure. One
grade cow and calf brought $540.
Seven cows brought $4OO or over.
The average on thirty-three cows
was $386.00.
Other farm items sold by Carl
Diller, auctioneer, included an ele
vator, $185; com picker, $300; for
age harvester, $1,660; hay fan,
$390; pair of horses, $467.50. Four
other horses averaged over $2OO
each, and a grain drill, $310.00.

65th Dairy Expo Set
, UNIVERSITY PARK (Centre
Co.) —The 65th Dairy Exposition
will be held Saturday, April 21,
1990 at 8:00 a.m. at the Penn State
Ag Arena, University Park.
The Exposition is a fitting and
showing competition open to all
Penn State students. Those who
will be competing in this year’s
Expo drewtheir animals by lottery
in die middle of March. Since then
they have been training them to
lead and grooming them.
Professional and amateur
champions will be chosen in each
breed category. At about 2:00 p.m.
the overall champion and reserve
champion will be chosen. Approx
imately 50 students will be com
peting in the contest.
The 1990 Dairy Expo will be
dedicated to Dr. Lester C. Griel,
Jr., a Penn State graduate in Dairy
Production. He is employed as the
University veterinarian for Penn

honor because of his continuing
support of Dairy Science Club
activities.
Phil Taylor,,a 1984 graduate of
Penn State in Dairy Production,
was chosen as the 1990 Outstand
ing Young Dairyman. He is a
dairy extension agent for Centre
and Clinton counties and has also
supported the Dairy Science Club
in many ways.
Ernie Buhl, a senior majoring in
Dairy Production, is the overall
Expo chairman. He is the son of
Robert and Carol Buhl of Erie,
PA. Vinton Smith is the assistant
overall Expo chairman, Vinton is
a sophomore majoring in Dairy
and Animal Science, and is the
