“In the last few years, it has
taken on a new meaning,” said
Blaine Schlosser, county agent “It
is now a leaming-by-doing experi
ence for the county youth.”
From the time the calves arrive
till they leave, the youth are pri
marily responsible for getting all
the animals ready for the sale.
They do all the clipping, bathing,
feeding, and keeping them clean.
At the time of the sale, the
youth bring the animals to the
ring, present them in the ring, help
to take bids, and return the ani
mals to their stalls.
“It is a lot of work, but the
youth seem to really enjoy and
leant the responsibility that is
expected of them,” said Schlosser.
