trends so they in turn can confi
dently advise dairy and beef pro
ducers on how best to make mat
ing decisions and manage their
A.I. programs.
Heavy emphasis is placed on
training representatives in using
the Genetic Mating Services
(GMS), the first computerized
mating system which evolved in
1968. The linear measurement
system so popular in the A.I.
industry today, started with the
GMS program in 1975. Linear
evaluation is an objective method
of looking at each dairy trait to
determine the most beneficial
mating.
Hewitt will be working with a
specially-trained evaluator in
identifying herd breeding objec
tives of individual dairymen,
arranging cow-coding appoint
ments and interpreting mating
recommendations.
