elected board members,
CAAS has directors serv
ing from five affiliate
groups representing indivi
dual departments within
the College. There has
been a food science group
and an ag and extension
educators group organized
within the last year.
An ongoing project,
according to Bair, is the
documentation of CAAS,
which was established in
1967, making it one of the
earliest alumni societies
within the University. It
continues to be one of the
most active and effective
societies at Penn State. As
president, Bair serves on
the Alumni Council of the
University, which has rep
resentatives from each of
the Colleges.
Bair says one sign of the
strength of the organiza
tion is the number of quali
fied candidates willing to
serve each year on the
election slate. There is also
an eagerness among direc
tors to woik on the many
projects and programs that
take place throughout the
year. “Others are envious
of our program size and
content, and the willing
ness of alumni to serve,”
Bair noted.
One of the attractions of
belonging to CAAS, and
becoming involved, is that
it brings together those
who are involved in Pen
nsylvania’s biggest indus
try - agriculture.
