The American Guernsey Asso
ciation appraises cows through the
joint-type traits appraisal program
with the American Jersey Cattle
Club. Cattle are appraised on a
linear type traits basis. Each cow
is given a score for IS various
traits in four general categories,
dairy form, udder, feet and legs,
and overall general appearance.
These traits can then be calculated
by a computerized formula to
receive a final score, or the
appraiser can assign a final score
to the individual cow during the
appraisal. Dairymen have the
option to use one or the other.
"Glcnna” received her final score
of 96 points from the appraiser.
Turley opted for the calculated
score on “Kandy” which resulted
in EX-96. The appraisal rankings
consist of 90-100, Eexeellent (E);
80-89, Very Good (VG); 70-79,
Desirable (D) and below 69.
