The recipi ent is an active dairy farmer whose primary source of income is deriv ed from the farm. Another award is presented to the Industry Person of the Year. The recipient is cited for his or her excellence in research, develop ment, education or marketing. An award is also presented to the Dairy Woman of the Year. This individual is recognized bas ed on contributions to the farm, family and community. The last award honors the Inter national Person of the Year. Indi viduals outside of the United States who have significantly con tributed to the development of in ternational relations, trade or co operation receive this award. Meinhart and his wife, Grace, have raised Texas longhorns on their Happy Hills Farms since 1987. They originally purchased the cattle for nostalgic reasons, but the main motivation today is the leanness of Texas longhorn beef. In addition to being a director of the northeast affiliate, Mr. Mein hart serves on the show committee and the membership, by-laws, and advertising committees for the group.
