Plans are under way for an advanced Sheep Shearing School, sponsored by the University of New Hampshire cooperative extension and Cornell University, to be held March 10, 11, and 12, 1990 at the Cornell Sheep Research Bam in Dryden, New York. Robin will be providing instruction not only on shearing technique, but also on equipment maintenance, comb “experting,” wool handling, diet, and exercise. The course will start at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday. All of the for mal instruction will be conducted on Saturday and Sunday. Monday will be a full day for practice, and Middleton will be available for one-on-one help. We’ve organized the course this way so that those that can only stay for Saturday and Sunday won’t miss any of the instruction,” said Bruce Clement, Cheshire County extension agent. The course fee is $50.00 per person. Meals and lodging are not included. The course will be lim ited to 20 people on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration deadline is February 23, 1990. The program provides an op portunity for applicants ages 18-23 to promote beef and veal to consumers at various functions, including retail promotions, com munity and health fairs, and mall exhibits throughout the summer.
