Pennsylvanians Place High
At 1990 Angus Show
ST. JOSEPH, MO Not only
was the number up of cattle exhi
bited at this year’s Super Roll of
Victory (ROV) Angus Show held
January 13 at the National West
ern Stock Show in Denver, Color
ado, but the quality of the cattle
shown ran deep throughout the
entire day of showing.
The reserve spring Heifer calf
champion was Blackcap Kenzie of
GU, and she was shown by Greg
Krueger & Family from Coates
ville, Pennsylvania: Mountain
Valley Angus from Lititz, Penn
sylvania; and Weaverland Valley
Farms from New Holland, Penn
sylvania.
Fox Hill Farm of Unlonvllle, Pennsylvania; Annaiea
Farms Ltd. of Ken nett Square, Pennsylvania; and Belle
Point Ranch of Lavaca, Arkansas, exhibited the senior
champion female at the ROV Angus show. Their entry is
Annaiea Marchesa.
The reserve spring heifer calf champion at the ROV
Angus show was Blackcap Kenzle of G U. This heifer Is
owned by Greg Krueger and Family of Coatesville, Penn
sylvania; Mountain Valley Angus of Litltz, Pennsylvania;
and Weaverland Valley Farms of New Holland,
Pennsylvania.
Senior calf champ, Blpperts Galtar, was
awarded the reserve grand champion bull
banner at the Angus sale bull show. Exhibitor
Warren Bippert Jr. of Alden, New York, sold
his entry in the Angus sale for $5,100 to
Schaff's Angus Ranch In St. Anthony, North '
Dakota.
Lead Judge John Maurer of
Wheelock, Texas and associate
judge John McKnight of Searcy,
Arkansas had their work cut out
for them on show day. They eva
luated and placed a total of 247
Angus bulls and heifers at the
ROV event.
For the first time this year, the
American Angus Association
measured and weighed all the
show cattle at the National West
ern. Weight, frame score, backfat
thickness and scrotal circumfer
ence were provided to the judges
as well as to the spectators.
