Guernsey
Bemeta Gable of Snider Home
stead Farm in New Enterprise
brought a four-year-old cow, Snid
ers Fayetes Aften, out of her herd
of 65 cows that was named grand
champion of the Guernsey com
petition. Although this is Aften’s
first Farm Show win, it isn’t her
first time in the champion spot
light. She was named the champ
ion three-year-old in the Pennsyl
vania Futurity at the ’B9 Pennsyl
vania All American. As a
two-year-old Aften milked 14,400
pounds.
Aften’s dam and granddam
were show cows and her granddam
lived to the ripe old age of 21 years.
Dave Smith of Annville exhi
bited the reserve grand champion,
Lebanon Valley Fayette Marie.
Marie is a three-year-old sired by
Dutch Mill Fayette out of Lebanon
Valley Emory. Marie is estimated
to milk 15,500 pounds of milk in
her first lactation, which isn’t
complete.
Robert Smith, Dave’s father and
owner of Lebanon Valley Farms,
led out the junior champion, Leba
non Valley Baker Nicky. Nicky is
a senior yearling sired by Kenmir
Nances Baker out of Lebanon Val
ley Lance. These two titles helped
Lebanon Valley Farms win the
premier breeder and exhibitor
awards. The Smith family has been
coming to Farm Show for about
seven years to show dairy cattle.
Scott and Elsie Wolff and Peb-
L-Brook Farm in Quarryville
walked away with the reserve
junior champion honors in the
open show. Their winning heifer,
was a junior calf, Peb L Brook
Laredo C J. C J is a Renwind Fay
Laredo daughter out of Peb-L-
Brook Charlotte.
In the youth division, the senior
and grand champion was Sniders
Fayctta Sugar Plum, owned by
Kristi Snider. Youth reserve senior
and reserve grand champion hon
ors went to Sniders Fayettes Onyx,
led by Aaron Gable. Onyx is a
Dutch Mill Fayette daughter out of
Sniders Opal.
Called a nice, well-balanced calf by the judge, Garrett
Mase’s Brown Swiss was named junior champion. Meadow
Hill Jade April, right, also was the junior champion and
reserve grand champion of the youth show. Michael
Kunkle, left, holds his open show reserve junior champion,
Shady Creek Lenore Nyla. With them is alternate Pennsyl
vania Dairy Princess Angie Splckler.

Jersey
Patricia Jenkins of Toughkena
mon in Chester County had reason
to be happy on Tuesday. Her
Jersey swept the championship
titles in the open division. The
grand champion was Gusto Mile
stone Fatima of SSF, a Milestone
Advancer daughter out of Paceset
ter Flower. Fatima was grand
champion at the Delaware State
Fair in 'BB and milks about 13,000
pounds.

tes. The ’B9 Delaware State Fan
grand champion, four-year-old

daughter.
Jays Leona of S V was Jenkins’
junior champion. Leona is a senior
calf sired by Valleystream Silver
out of Valhalla Leslie. She was
eighth place at the ’B9 All Ameri
can Jersey Show in Louisville.
Coming in one spot higher at the
Louisville competition, but
reserve junior champion at Farm
Show was CLV Schlitz Sweet
Sheena. Sheena is a Silver Spring
Schlitz daughter out of CLV
Gemjni Shamrock.
The youth division junior
champion was owned by Joyce
Harpster of Boalsburg. Her entry
was Edn-Ru Beacon Fancy, a Val
ley Stream Beacon daughter out of
Milu Audry Finalist. The youth
division’s reserve junior champion
was High Snowflakes Frolic, own
ed by Owen Bewley. Frolic is a
Milestone Zorro daughter out of S
V Faith Snowflake.
Milking Shorthorn
Veteran exhibitor Jim Young
and family of Three Springs Farm
in Newville dominated the Milk
ing Shorthorn classes, which led to
their being named premier breeder
and exhibitor.
Leading their prize winners was
Bell Ringer’s Faith, an aged cow
that judge Jim Shaw selected as
grand champion. The cow, which
also was named best udder in her
class, is a Three Springs Bell Rin
ger daughter out of Light Weg
Faith Promise.
The Farm Show title was the
first grand championship garnered
by Faith, but not for the Hunters
who showed a Farm Show champ-
ion about four or five years ago.
Faith is co-owncd with L. Arthur
of Newville.
Herdmate Three Springs Kay,
shown by James C. Young, nabbed
the reserve senior and reserve
grand championship titles as well
as that of the youth division senior
and grand champion title. Sired by
Three Springs Jake, Kay is out of
Crest View Wachess and was
named champion udder in the
Milking Shorthorn contest.
