Huntsberger Receives
HERSHEY (Dauphin Co.)
The Pennsylvania Farmers’ Asso
ciation (PFA) has presented its
Distinguished Service to Agricul
ture award to Geary Huntsberger
of Etters, York County.
The award was presented at a
banquet Tuesday evening, Nov.
14, during PFA’s 39th Annual
Meeting. Several hundred farmers
gathered at the Hershey Lodge
and Convention Center, Nov.
13-15, to elect leaders and set pol
icies for the statewide farm orga
nization. PFA is a voluntary, gen
eral farm organization represent-

group to improve internal coordi
nation of the U.S. Department of
Agriculture’s water quality
programs.
Parnell said the Working Group
on Water Quality, operating as a
unit of the secretary of agricul
ture’s Policy and Coordination
Council, has been charged with
three specific tasks: coordinating

Huntsberger was honored for
his leadership and achievements
in the agricultural community. He
is a recipient of Pennsylvania’s
Master Farmer award and was
named chairman of the State
Committee of the Agricultural
Stabilization and Conservation
Service earlier this year.
With his son, Robert, Huntsber
ger operates the 3,000-acre Com
Hill Farms, Inc. in northern York
County, including two islands in
the Susquehanna River near Three

relating to water quality activities:
developing and recommending
strategies for carrying out these
activities; and providing advice
and guidance on water quality
issues to the policy council, which
is comprised of all USDA sub
cabinet officials.

tee chairman of the York County

Geary has been active for many
years in the York County Far
mers’ Association, serving as a
member of the National Legisla
tive Committee. He is a member
of the board of directors of the
PFA Legal Defense Fund.

berger is a member of the Pennsyl
vania Ag Republicans and was a
coalition member of Farmers For
Bush in 1988.

tions were recognized for out
standing achievements in PFA
programs. Erie County Farmers’
Association under the leadership
of county president Robert Whit
ney of Harborcreek won PFA’s
All Star award for overall achieve
ment and participation in all 16
PFA programs. The association
represents over 500 families in
Erie County.
