If a buyer tells you to mix grades of tobacco,
he probably wants to limit your market poten
tial. If any buyer for any tobaccos offers you an
open contract (price plus raise) - then top prices
for that tobacco are probably not here yet!! If all
farmers sign open contracts there is no chance
for a raise.
We at Paradise can not understand that it takes
12 months and a lot of hard labor to produce a
crop of tobacco and it only takes one day to
make a marketing decision. Too many quick
decisions are made when selling tobacco. Are
you informed when you make a tobacco market
ing decision or do you make a decision on what a
buyer tells you?
