CHAMBERSBURG (Franklin
Co.) For 16-year-old Rodney
Carling, training and showing blue
ribbon ponies is as natural as play
ing basketball or a musical instru
ment. Rodney, a junior at Cham
bersburg Area Senior High
School, has been showing ponies
since he was three years old. He
started showing in lead line and
pony-driving classes until he was
old enought to become a 4-H Tiny
Trotter three years later. Two years
later, Carling became a full
fledged 4-H horse member, com
peting at county, district, and state
shows.
Over the past nine years. Gar
ling trained and showed three
ponies to Pennsylvania 4-H state
championships. His 19-year-old
sister, Rhonda, also has trained and
shown three state champion
ponies. In addition, in the past 10
years, the 4-H District VI pony
driving class has been won by
either brother or sister.

PULVI-MULCHERS
Brillion’s Pulvi-Mulchers are one-pass secondary tillage
tools that provide clod-free seedbeds.
The front rollers of the Pulvi-Mulcher break up surface
clods. "C" shaped ribbon teeth or “S” spring tine teeth
break up the soil to six inches in depth and pull clods to
the surface. The rear roller wheels then crush those clods
and convert the soil into a firmed, mulched seedbed that
locks in moisture at the root level.
The result is a uniformly firmed and tilled seedbed from
top to bottom, but not compacted. You get the full benefit
of the capillary action of the soil for better germination,
better moisture condition and faster decomposition of
itrash.
