Union opposed to the use of
Bovine Growth Hormones (BGH)
in the production of dairy products
called on the state legislature to
ban the use of Bovine Somatotro
pin (BST) in dairy cows.
William Sturges, Executive
Director of the PFU stated, “Many
questions concerning the use of
BST and its relationship to the
economic impact it will have on
our dairy industry, consumers
demand for a pure food source,
and the long-term effects of chem
ical imbalances due to hormonal
increases still are unanswered.
More studies need to be done
before the use of growth hor
mones is accepted.”

as a tool to be used in gathering
public opinion and more facts
concerning the use of this hor
mone in dairy cows.
