Sun nybend Farms’ Peace & Plenty S- W-D Justin-Et captured the supreme dairy champion distinc tion of the 1989 York Fair by a unanimous decision from show judges Harvey Stoltzfus and John Burket. This 3-year-old was an easy winner in her breed, according to Holstein judge Stoltzfus and an easy pick for the supreme dairy champion with a definite advan tage in udder and full of dairy char acter with an enviable set of feet and legs. “This Holstein is tall, dairy, with a super good udder and we believe she wins this award on her total dairyness,” said Burkett. The Supreme Dairy Champion plaque was presented in memory of M. Ebert Rutter by Leo Rutter. The reserve supreme champion trophy went to an outstanding 5-year-old Guernsey, Rutter Bros. Jubilees Teddibear. Burket admired the strong attachment of foreudder and the high and wide rear udder attachment and the dairy character in this aged cow. “This Guernsey spells quality with a lot of breed character. She’s sharp and extremely well-balanced around the head and neck,” said Burket. This year’s award was spon sored by John Ball in memory of his wife, Beattie Mae Ball. Keith Shaffer of Seven Valleys returned to the show scene. After a 15-year hiatus, he re-entered the show ring with only one animal. That was enough. Ke-Hills Misty Cinnamon-red was named best uddered in the Holstein show on her way to earning the reserve grand champion award. Coredale Potential Tootie a senior yearling captured the junior title of the show and was followed by the summer yearling Sun nybend Nectarine Starbuck. JERSEY Top-0-HUI Jerseys were also top of the show at the York Fair Jersey show. All four champions came from Mildred Seeds breed ing program. Admired for their dairy and breed character, very desirable udders, a good set of feet and legs and outstanding bodied animals, they were easy winners in their classes and in the champion selections. Grand .champion was the 4-year-old, Top-O-Hill Milestone Cutie, shown by Mildred Seeds. Rutter Brothers Take Supreme Champion Dairy Titles Junior champion went to Top- O-Hill Admiral MG Valentine an intermediate yearling exhibited by Tonya Kozlowski and M. Gratz. Reserve junior champion went to Top-O-Hill Admiral Peppermint, the summer yearling shown by Peter Evans AYRSHIRE Grand champion M H Albi Lizz took the title for long time Ayr shire exhibitor of the York Fair,Sam iftehl. The aged cow was an easy winner with overall dairy 'ness .and style. Reserve grand champion went to Diehl’s Cove Creek Libs Goody also exhibited by Sam Diehl. Jeannie Cohick kept the 45-year show veteran from sweeping the titles in the Ayrshire show. Cohick’s junior yearling, Maulfair Acres S Star Chrissy was lovely hooks to pins. Reserve junior champion went to Diehls’senior yearling. Cove Creek Flashy Bess. GUERNSEY Grand champion of the Guern sey show went to Rutter Bros. Jubilees Teddibear a 5-year-old. Reserve grand champion went to the Rutter Bros, senior 2-year-old, Rutter Bros. Bionics Micki. Junior champion honors went to Rutter Bros, senior calf. Sunnybend King Gretals Girdie took the reserve junior title. BROWN SWISS Kelly Myers took the junior championship in the Brown Swiss with another winner for her from the dairy farm of Emilie Welsh. Mike Welsh was the breeder on this intermediate heifer calf. Myers has exhibited champions since she began showing at the York Fair. David Krone took th reserve junior title and captured the grand champion Brown Swiss honors with an outstanding aged cow. Gary and Glen Growls took the reserve grand title.
