shire the Northern Lebanon FFA
chapter became number one FFA
chapter group in the 34th Pennsyl
vania Southeast Region FFA Dairy
Show held at the Lebanon fair
grounds on Wednesday.
Solanco was the runner-up with
Jersey reserve grand and Jersey
junior champions, Guernsey junior
and grand champions, a reserve
grand Holstein champion, and a
Holstein junior champion.
Contributing to Northern Leba
non’s success was David Lentz of
Lebanon. His 6-year-old, San-Bo
Mars Katie, earned Holstein grand
champion for the third consecutive
year. Katie is a Marshfield Eleva
tion Tony daughter and was bred
by Lentz, also.
Katie was also named grand
(light) of Northern Lebanon FFA won grand champion in the
Ayrshire show. Laura Harding’s Sycamore Meade Quality's

milk in 305 days. In 365 days she
produced 31,000-plus pounds of
milk wiht 980 pounds of butterfat
This year Lentz predicts produc
tion for 305 days to hit 25,000
pounds, but he says Katie will
hang on to do much more.
Katie is the daughter of an Ivan
hoe Star which Lentz’s gave to
him. Katie’s full sister just recently
ranked dead last in the senior calf
class at the fair show, but David is
not worried about her future. It
seems Katie started out that way
too, only she made even a poorer
showing in the heifer classes. He is
hopeful Katie’s sister will follow
in her hoofprints.
