McConnell Tractors Introduces M-F Articulated Tractor KINSTON, N.C.— Late last month, J. Ward McConnell, Jr., chairman of McConnell Tractors, Ltd., unveiled the Massey- Ferguson Model 5200 (MF-5200) four-wheel drive articulated trac tor. Manufactured by McConnell Tractors, Ltd. at a new facility in Kinston, North Carolina, the MF-S2OO is sold exclusively in the United States and Canada through the Massey-Ferguson dealer network. Available with either a Detroit Diesel Series 60 engine rated at 390 horsepower or a Cummins 855 engine rated at 375 horsepow er the MF-S2OO represents the top end of the four-wheel drive, arti culated tractor product category. The Detroit Diesel Series 60 engine has developed a good repu tation for performance and fuel economy in heavy truck applica tions and over 20,000 hours of development time has been spent in adapting the Series 60 to agri cultural applications. The Cum mins 855 engine has a proven track record in agricultural appli cations including the powering of four-wheel drive tractors. Cum mins engins are designed specifi cally to deliver high levels of per formance, reliability, durability, fuel economy and serviceability in four-wheel drive applications. In addition to the change in power source a number of upgrades have been made to the Cole Consulting Offers Milking-System Testing MINGOVILLE (Centre Co.) Dave Cole Consulting has ini tiated a new service for dairy farmers. This service provides indepen dent testing and analysis of all phases of the milking system (all brands). This includes pulsation, vacuum, washing, water sampling and more. Milking procedure review during milking also is available. This service is offered as a reg ular scheduled equipment check or as a one time review of the Business V . News MF-5200 including: * There is a choice of transmis sions. Either a 12-spced full power shift or a 12-speed manual transmission. * The exhaust stack and air cleaner have been relocated from the center of the hood to the side of tha cab, resulting in improved visibility. * The front grill is now hinged to provide access to the air condi tioning and oil cooler for easier maintenance. * The hood has been rede signed to improve visibility and provide better access to the engine. * Work lights have been upgraded to halogen lamps. * The battery system has been upgraded from 560 to 730 cold cranking amps. * A standard feature in the cab will be an AM/FM stereo-radio with a cassette player. * A microwave oven will be a standard feature in the cab to pro vide warm meals and hot beverages. Its horizontal-folding design gives the harrow a lower and narrower pro file than other large disk harrows for convenient road travel and storage. The 696 is available In seven widths from 26 feet, 3 Inches to 45 feet, 3 inches. Heavy-Duty Case IH Disk Harrow Travels Easily RACINE, Wise. Farmers with large acreages that require a disk harrow often must travel con siderable distances between their fields. To solve this problem. Case 1H has introduced the Model 696 horizontal fold disk harrow, which provides pperators with heavy duty performance and ease of transport. Available in seven widths from 26 feet. 3 inches (8.0 m) to 45 feet, 3 inches.(l3.B m), the Model 696 is designeid to increase the produc tivity of large four-wheel-drive tractors. The Case IH Model 696 disk harrow folds rearward to a conve nient width of 14 feet, 9 inches (4.5 m) for faster, easier transport between fields, across bridges and through gates. The horizontal folding design also results in a 6-foot, 3-inch (1.9 m) transport height, giving'operators lower Digital DEKALB, IL An all new electronic digital scale now is available for Harvestore system batch mixers. The system is accu rate to one half of one percent of full capacity of 6,000 pounds. A new electronic digital scale available for Harvestore system batch mixers comes with a rugged indiactor that is made to stand up to feedroom conditions. The stainless steel case is sealed to keep out moisture and contains a thermostat and electric heater to maintain optimum operat ing conditions. The scale operates from a single load cell mounted above the floor. clearance when passing through machine shed doors. The disk frame is easily opened when going from transport to field position by removing three trans port pins and unfolding die gangs hydraulically. Once the two fold ing sections are locked into Held position, the disk is ready for work. The Model 696 is equipped with 26-inch (660 mm) by 1/4-inch (6.5 mm) Earth Metal® disk blades on 10-inch (254 mm) spacing. These blades provide 20 percent longer wear life and 60 percent greater shock resistance than conventional disk blades, according to field tests. Each of the four gangs had its own gauge wheel to follow field contours. Vertical adjustments can be made for each wheel and at the main frame to level gangs across the full working width. The gangs Scale Offered For Harvestore Mixers The digital weighing system is available with model 411,420, and 441 Harvestore System mixers, replacing a mechanical dial scale offered in the past* For accuracy and reliability, the new scale oper- are attached to the gang bar with spring steel bearing standards, allowing each gang to work inde pendently to maintain consistent cutting depth. The front and rear disk gangs can be adjusted independently to change cutting angles in two degree increments from 18 degrees for seedbed preparation to sharper angles of up to 26 degrees for sod or primary tillage. Flexible spring steel scrapers maintain the proper contact with the blades to keep them clean and operating properly, even in moist, sticky soils. The Model 696 can be custom ized for various field conditions with optional 26-inch (660 mm) by S/16-inch (8 mm) solid or notched blades. A safety lighting package is also available. ates from a single load cell that’s mounted above the floor, safe from dirt and water. The digital scale indicator with its lighted LED display is built to stand up to feedroom conditions. Us case is made of durable stain less steel, and is sealed to be wash down safe. It has a built-in ther mostat and electric heater to con- trol moisture and assure optimum operating conditions. For efficiency and convenience, the indicator unit can be mounted on a wall near control panels for automated feeding equipment It’s equipped with internal relays that can be wired to drive mixer con trols or conveyor motors, further simplifying feedroom chores. The electronic display can be set to read-out in either pounds or kilograms, and in increments of 1, S. 10, or 100 units. It can be mated to a printer or networked with a computer for high-tech applica tions. The scale comes with a one year limited warranty. An economical beam scale will continue to be offered for Harve store System mixers, which can be ordered with both weighing sys tems. This provides the utmost in convenience and accuracy while providing a back-up scale in case maintenance is required.
