Angus Association Names Roll

1988-89 show season ended
recently and with it came the
announcement of a wide array of
champions in the American Angus
Association’s Roll of Victory
(ROV) point recognition program.
Points from IS designated ROV
shows held annually are awarded
to the top five placings in each
class, as well as to division and
reserve division champions. There
'are four Super Point Shows that
are held in the same location each
year, and then there are 11 Recog
nition Point Shows that are held at
different locations annually.
This year’s “Sire of the Year”
award went to Broadway, a May,
1985, son of Cobble Pond New
Yorker. He was bred by dnd is
currently owned by Lee Miller &
Family, Woodsboro, Md., along
with R&J Ranch, Briggs, Texas.

title In the American Angua Association’s 1988-’B9 Roll of
Victory point recognition program. Bred and owned by RAJ

show ring, Conquest won the
“Show Bull of the Year” honor.

competing for this title. Conquest,

is presently owned by Mr. and
Mrs. Earl Beaver of Tishomingo,

He stood as the grand champion

natural calf was Elvira of Mea
dowbrook 284. Bred by Mr. and
Mrs. Jack Parish, this November,
1981, P S Power Play daughter
now is owned by Mr. and Mrs.
Earl Beaver. R&J Julie 1975 won
the “Dam of the Year” with an
embryo calf category. She was
bred and is owned by R&J Ranch.
Julie, a June, 1985, daughter of
R&J Rolex 2023 also is owned by
Indian Creek Farm. Stahlstown,
PA.
R&J Ranch wrapped up the
“Breeder of the Year” division,
making it four years straight they
have won this honor. Well ahead
of the second-place victor. North

Plumb and is managed by Ken
Conway.

Penn State performance tested ram sale was a consign
ment from John Nordln of Russell. This February, 1989, twin
lamb gained 1.14 pounds per day and finished the test at 202
pounds. The ram sold for $750 to Welty Keenan of Hunker.
Bringing $4OO was an October, 1988, twin ram lamb
offered by Joanne O’Connor of Monogahela. The ram
gained 1 pound per day and finished at 266 pounds.
